Mantraste was born in 1988 in Caldas da Rainha. His mother is a hairdresser and his father is a shepherd. After attending the Illustration course in ESAD.cr, he graduated in Graphic Design in the same school in 2013 and he currently works as a graphic designer and illustrator. Furthermore, he has been teaching illustration and printing techniques in ESAD.cr, ETIC (Lisbon), Lusófona (Lisbon) and IED (Madrid). He has been collaborating with clients like Casa da Música, 20|20 Editora, FNAC, CULTURGEST, Associação Nacional das Farmácias, UNABEL, among others.

His very name evokes an onomatopoeic sound that suggests the elasticity of his art: Mister Thoms is actually a multifaceted artist who expresses himself not only through Street Art, but also through illustration and graphic design, in a constant search for balance between an ironic mood and an expressive concept.
